We are looking for individuals who want to grow their career in utility operation and are qualified with EOCP Level 2 or 3 certifications. Able to work flexible hours and required to take part in the after-hours, emergency stand-by roster is a requirement. Preference will be given to applicants with extensive hands-on Water Distribution operation and maintenance experience.
 
Summarized Position Responsibilities:
The role of a Utility Operator is to support the safe, efficient, effective and continuous operation and maintenance of the City’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The role of a Utility Operator is to work alongside and mentor the entry Level Utility Operators to promote the safe, efficient, effective, and continuous operation and maintenance of the City’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The Utility Operators will operate, maintain, control, and monitor the CWK’s utility systems, including pressure reducing valves, pump stations, re-chlorination systems, reservoirs, collection network, lift stations, performing water quality sampling and analysis and maintain accurate records. The Operators will aid and/or lead the several operational programs, small-scale in-house Capital renewal/improvement projects, procedure development/updating, in-house proactive and reactive maintenance along with emergency repair of underground water and sewer piping following industry best management practices.
 
Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) in a specified discipline - Water Distribution, Wastewater Collections and Water Treatment, etc.
  • Operating experience in a Class III or higher system / facility
  • Occupational First Aid Level I
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Chlorine Handling Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • WHMIS 2015
  • Water Engineering Technology Diploma (Preferred)
  • BCWWA Tester and / or Inspector Certification in Cross Connection Control (Preferred)
  • Dam Inspection and Maintenance training (Preferred)
  • Valid Class III or I License with Air Endorsement (Preferred)
